Four workers injured in rollover in NT

A rescue helicopter has airlifted four injured plantation workers to Darwin after a Toyota Land Cruiser with 12 people aboard rolled south of the Douglas Daly National Park.

Those injured in Saturday afternoon's accident on Fleming Road were aged between 25 and 35 and included two with head injuries on stretchers and two with abdominal injuries, Careflight said in a statement.

Eight other workers with less serious injuries were taken by road to the Adelaide River clinic.

The Careflight chopper arrived back in Darwin shortly before 8pm, landing at Palmerston Oval due to severe weather caused by ex-tropical cyclone Lam.

The patients were then transferred by road to Royal Darwin Hospital.
