Woman under police guard after unit fire

A Sydney woman is under police guard in hospital for setting fire to her unit after barricading herself inside.

Ten officers were treated for smoke inhalation after police were called to investigate a domestic incident in Belmore on Sunday evening.

They found the 48-year-old woman had barricaded herself in the property after allegedly assaulting a male ex-partner, who had subsequently left the scene.

A short time later she set fire to the unit before the emergency services forced entry and pulled her to safety.
