Woman safe but Sydney home burns down

A 35-year-old woman has escaped uninjured, but her house was destroyed by fire in Sydney's south west.

The home was well-alight when emergency services were called to McIlwain Street, Ashcroft about 1am on Thursday and firefighters were unable to save it.

The fire is not being treated as suspicious and authorities believe it was caused by a cigarette.
