Woman charged with manslaughter over crash that killed boy in Sydney

A woman has been charged with domestic violence manslaughter after a car crash in which a child died more than a year ago, in western Sydney.

Emergency services were called to Christie Road at St Marys, at about 3.20am on Friday, April 26, 2024.

They found a Hyundai Getz had hit a parked truck and trailer.

The driver of the car, a 38-year-old woman, and a five-year-old boy who had been in the back seat of the car, were treated at the scene before they were taken to hospital in critical conditions.

The five-year-old boy died in hospital later that night.

After an investigation, on December 6 2024, the woman was charged with multiple offences including dangerous driving occasioning death.

Those charges remain before the courts.

After further investigations, yesterday, she was charged with domestic violence manslaughter.

She will appear in court today.
