Noticing more police helicopters in the sky than usual? Here's why
Police are continuing to crack down on suspicious behaviour, as police helicopters become a common sight above Sydney's east.
Operation Shelter is focusing on Jewish schools, synagogues, and community centres, while also keeping watch over the Bondi Beach area.
Helicopters have become a regular fixture above Sydney's east and are capable of sweeping over the suburb within a matter of minutes.

In as little as six minutes, police aircraft can get from the base in Bankstown to Sydney's east.
"(We) provide that immediate aerial oversight, the identification of any further threats," Pol-Air Commander Superintendent Chris Nicholson said.
"(We) also get public messaging out via our public messaging broadcast system on board the aircraft."

Pol-Air has spent the week monitoring the scene of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack and the rest of the eastern suburbs as part of Operation Shelter.
It was formed in October 2023 and has ramped up since Sunday's terror attack.
"The presence of Pol-Air increases public safety," Nicholson said.
