Lian Bin "Robert" Xie, 53

- The accused

- Husband to Kathy Lin and brother-in-law of Min Lin

- Arrived in Australia in 2002. Was an ear, nose and throat specialist in China

Min "Norman" Lin, 45

- Operated Epping Central Newsagency

- Died from blunt force trauma and asphyxiation

- Body hidden under a doona and not found until hours later

Yun "Lily" Lin, 44

- Occasionally worked in the newsagency

- Died in her bed from combination of blunt force trauma and asphyxiation

Yun Bin "Irene" Lin, 39

- Lily's sister

- Uni student, arrived from China about 18 months before the murders

- Died from blunt force trauma to the face

Henry, 12

- Eldest son of Min and Lily

- Died from asphyxiation and blunt force trauma, was not in his bed when killed

Terry, nine

- Min and Lily's youngest son

- Died from blunt force trauma and asphyxiation after "furious struggle", not in his bed when killed

Kathy Lin

- Min Lin's sister and daughter of Yang Fei Lim and Feng Qin Zhu

- Married Robert Xie in 1998 and supported him throughout the trial.
