Police investigating after van found floating in Sydney river

Police divers have confirmed no one was inside a van found floating in the Georges River, in Sydney's south west.

Drivers spotted the white van submerged in the river at Milperra, just off the M5, after 8am.

Police will try to float the van out on tomorrow's high tide, after numerous attempts today were unsuccessful.

It is unclear how or why the van ended up in the river.
