The case of a man charged with the murder of Sydney underworld figure Lynn Tasman Jones will be mentioned in a Sydney court.

Donald Reeves' matter will be heard at Central Local Court on Friday, following his arrest last week when police stopped his car.

The 69-year-old's arrest followed a tip-off to police two months after they announced a $100,000 reward for information about Mr Jones' murder.

Court papers allege Reeves murdered Mr Jones at Millers Point on either June 10 or June 11, 2009.

The skeletal remains of the 69-year-old former safecracker and fraudster from Sydney's east were discovered by bushwalkers in the Royal National Park in October 2013.
