Officers were told the 34-year-old had allegedly been assaulted by a man known to him at The Hermitage in Tweed Heads South.

The 34-year-old was then allegedly driven by a woman known to him to a home on Seaview Crescent and left on the driveway.

Paramedics were called to the property, where they treated the man, but he died at the scene.

NSW Police Acting Inspector Gary Sheehan said police arrested a 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman at a home in The Hermitage a short time later.

“They were both arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station,” he said.

The man has since been charged with murder (DV) and the woman was charged with hindering a police investigation.

Police will allege in court the woman supplied false information about the assault to officers.

The man was refused bail to face court tomorrow, while the woman was granted conditional bail to appear before court later this month.

The 34-year-old man has not been formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
