Traffic chaos on Sydney’s M1 following truck crash

Traffic is continuing to crawl on Sydney’s M1 following a truck crash at Berowra earlier this afternoon.

A truck loaded with liquid bitumen crashed and rolled over in the north bound lanes of the motorway around 12.25pm.

The 59-year-old driver of the truck was trapped for about 45 minutes following the crash but has since been released.

A CareFlight helicopter flew a doctor to the scene to assist the man, who was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Motorists stuck in the traffic on the motorway described the delays as “ridiculous”.

Two northbound and southbound lanes gave reopened following the crash

Traffic is queued for two kilometres and motorists are being advised to allow extra travel time.
