Three schoolboys refused bail over alleged rape of 17-year-old girl

Three 17-year-old schoolboys have been refused bail after being hit with 20 charges over the alleged rape of a teenage girl at a south-west Sydney home.

On Thursday, parents wept at Campbelltown Children’s Court as prosecutors outlined horrendous allegations against three 17-year-olds accused of assaulting a teenage girl at a Macarthur home on Saturday.
The court heard two of the boys allegedly carried out a brutal sexual assault on a 17-year-old girl, before calling a third teenager to join in.
The police prosecutor told the court the alleged victim was “degraded”.
“She was treated as an object. She was not treated as a person.”
The assault allegedly extended into the following day, with it being alleged that the victim “could no longer fight”.
“She was exhausted,” the prosecutor said.

About 7am on Wednesday, detectives carried out search warrants at several homes in the same area and the three boys were arrested.
Officers seized electronic devices and items for further examination.
One of the boys was charged with 11 offences, including six counts of aggravated sexual assault and three counts of sexual intercourse without consent.
A second was charged with eight offences, including six counts of aggravated sexual assault, and sexual intercourse without consent.
The third was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault.
Two of the teenagers attended St Gregory’s College in Campbelltown, and in a statement to parents the principal expressed “deep concern for the young woman”.
“Sexual violence has no place in our community.” the statement added.
The third teenager attended Elderslie High School.
All three boys are due to sit their HSC later this year. The prosecutor highlighted that the alleged victim is also due to sit her final exams, and will now have to do so while suffering severe mental and physical scarring.

Rabbidge pointed to other recent high-profile sexual assault cases involving youth, including allegations at The Scots College and within the Sydney Swans.
He stated there is justifiable community outrage surrounding the treatment of women.
All three teenagers were formally refused bail, and if convicted they could face up to 20 years behind bars.
