The final hours of the Lindt Cafe siege

THE LINDT CAFE SIEGE: WHAT WE'VE LEARNED:

* Siege hostage Jarrod Morton-Hoffman attempted to provide police with intelligence from inside the Lindt Cafe, passing a map under a door detailing the location of gunman Man Haron Monis and revealing he was armed with a shotgun.

* On other occasions, when ordered by Monis to make triple-0 phone calls, Mr Morton-Hoffman would try to pass on coded messages to police.

* Hostages had considered putting sleeping pills in Monis' tea, or throwing hot water on him.

* Monis only demanded an Islamic State flag after hearing media reports that he did not have one.
