Fire trucks damaged as bushfire breaks out in Sydney’s south-west

Multiple RFS fire trucks have been damaged after a planned hazard reduction burn escaped containment lines in Sydney’s south-west.

The incident happened on Katanna Road in Wedderburn, Campbelltown, leaving one truck destroyed and two seriously damaged.

It is also understood that while the blaze came close to a number of nearby properties it was contained before it became a hazard.

Paramedics assessed up to 19 people at the scene, with one person being treated for smoke inhalation.

None were transported to hospital.

Investigations are now under way to determine how the fire grew out of control.
