Sydney boy injured in van crash on improve

The condition of an eight-year-old Sydney boy critically injured after his allegedly drink-driving father crashed their van has improved dramatically.

The boy was left clinging to life and his father charged with drink driving over the March 26 crash at west-suburban Kemps Creek.

The van slammed into a pole on the way home from the boy's soccer practice.

A Westmead Children's Hospital spokeswoman said on Wednesday the child's condition was stable after spending a number of days on the critical list.

The boy's father has been charged with mid-range drink driving and dangerous and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm.

He has been granted bail and is due to face Penrith Local Court on May 13.
