A wedding dress, air fryer, skateboards and Lego: Lost property up for auction in Sydney Airport
Sydney Airport is gearing up for its annual lost luggage auction, in which thousands of unclaimed items will go under the hammer in the name of charity.
More than 2300 items left inside the terminal will be up for grabs this year, including 120 laptops, 100 headphones, 350 pieces of jewellery and 150 pairs of sunglasses.

Airport staff have also recovered a few unusual items left behind over the past 12 months.
Among them are an abandoned wedding dress, three skateboards, a Batman Lego set, an air fryer and a circular saw.
Bidding for the lost property will start at $10 and the auction is expected to raise $200,000 to fund free swimming lessons in the airport’s local council of Bayside.
Sydney Airport’s lost property auctions have raised close to $2.2 million for charities and community initiatives over the past decade.
“People from all over Australia log in to bid, not just for the bargains, but because they know every dollar goes towards something meaningful in the community,” Theodore Bruce Auctioneers Director Casi Prischl said.
“This year we have a brilliant mix of high-quality tech, gorgeous jewellery and watches, sunglasses, bags and perfume.”

Airport staff make every effort to reunite owners with their property before it is sold at an auction.
Sydney Airport said it returned more than 6000 lost items to passengers in 2025.
The auction does not include items left in checked baggage.
Bidding begins on Sunday and will close on July 8 at 2pm.
