Shots fired at car after dispute at party

A man has been charged after allegedly firing shots at a car following a dispute with a group of men who went to a party at his home in NSW's Central West.

Police say a fight erupted at the party in Mudgee on Saturday night and on Sunday morning an argument broke out at the property when four men returned to retrieve a ute.

It's alleged the 34-year-old property owner fired a bolt-action rifle at the vehicle as it was driven off, one bullet penetrating the back window and another lodging in a side panel.

The man was arrested and charged with shooting with intent to murder, possessing and using an unauthorised firearm and stalk/intimidate intending to cause fear or physical harm.

He was refused bail to appear in Mudgee Local Court on Monday.
