After fighting for his life for two days, Lachlan Scipione has died from injuries he sustained after crashing into a parked tipper truck north of Wollongong.

The 25-year-old driver sustained multiple injuries and was treated at the crash site in Helensburgh on Sunday morning before being taken to St George Hospital.

He died on Tuesday as a result of his injuries, NSW Police said in a statement on Thursday.

In a heartfelt message, Mr Scipione's girlfriend, Monique Elise, on Thursday posted a picture on Facebook of the couple together and wrote: "My love what a stunning time we had."

Reuben Martin, 18, was a passenger in the car and died at the scene on Sunday.

Police say the pair were in a Nissan Skyline which crashed into the rear of the tipper truck about 2 am on Sunday.
