Search for missing NSW bushwalker stretches into ninth day

Rescuers believe a Sydney man missing in bushland for nine days may still be alive, as he is an “experienced bushwalker”.

Sevak Simonian, 21, was last seen at his parents' home in Belrose in Sydney's north about 8pm last Monday.

He is believed to be lost in the Kanangra-Boyd National Park near Oberon.

Mr Simonian’s car was found in the Kanangra Walls Road car park at the park on Friday.

He is believed to only have been carrying a day pack when he disappeared.

Police said Mr Simonian is an experienced bushwalker, but they believed it was his first time at the Kanangra-Boyd national park.

Anybody at the park between Tuesday and Friday last week who may have knowledge of Mr Simonian's whereabouts are encouraged to call CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
