The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall have put their feet up in Perth on a rare day off during their tour of Australia and New Zealand, soaking up the sun by the pool at Government House.

The future king and his wife were treated to a typically warm November day in the West Australian capital on Friday, with the temperature hitting 36C.

It's the final weekend of their tour Down Under and they'll attend events in Albany before a beachside barbecue at Cottesloe, where Premier Colin Barnett lives, to celebrate Prince Charles' 67th birthday on Saturday.

The prince was famously snapped at the same beach in 1979 when bikini-clad model Jane Priest ran up to him in the surf and stole a kiss.

Charles and Camilla's itinerary on Sunday includes Kings Park, where his royal highness - a keen gardener - will see unique WA flora.
