Racist rant teen moved by Holocaust story

A teenager who hurled racist slurs at a busload of Jewish children in Sydney appeared moved as he came face-to-face with a Holocaust survivor, a Jewish museum official says.

The youth was among a group that boarded a Sydney bus in August and targeted Jewish schoolchildren with drunken anti-Semitic slogans and death threats.

On Monday, he toured the Sydney Jewish Museum and spoke for 45 minutes with 88-year-old Kuba Enoch, whose brother, mother, grandparents and two cousins were murdered by the Nazis.

Marie Bonardelli, the museum's education officer, said the teenager was moved by the experience.

"He was open-minded and really interactive," she said.

"It was apparent that he could empathise with the experiences Kuba was speaking about."

Mr Enoch was 13 when German soldiers seized his family's home in Krakow, Poland.

They were forced into a ghetto then sent to a concentration camp.

The tour was organised by NSW Jewish Board of Deputies chief executive Vic Alhadeff, who accompanied the boy, the boy's parents, and a case worker.
