Police charge NSW man after high speed chase

Police have charged a NSW motorist after he allegedly led them on a high speed pursuit.

Officers in Coffs Harbour in the state’s north pursued a Ford Caprice earlier today after the car failed to stop for police along the Pacific Highway near Dirty Creek.

After a pursuit was initiated, the vehicle allegedly reached speeds of up to 190km/hour.

Police deployed road spikes on the highway near Moonee Beach and the vehicle came to a stop a short time later.

The 24-year-old driver has been charged with a litany of offenses including driving at speed, driving recklessly or in a speeding/dangerous manner, dishonestly obtain property by deception, larceny, two counts of driving with an expired license and two counts of driving an unregistered vehicle.

He was refused bail and will appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court this week.
