Ex-tennis pro accused of match fixing

A former professional tennis player and coach has been charged by police after allegedly throwing a match that friends had bet on, winning thousands of dollars.

Officers executed a search warrant on a Liberty Grove home in Sydney's inner west on Thursday morning where they arrested a 26-year-old man, who has been named by media as Nick Lindahl.

Another man, 24, at the house was also arrested and charged with hindering a police investigation.

Police will allege Lindahl intentionally lost a match at the 2013 Toowoomba Futures Six tournament, while another person successfully bet on the match outcome.

A betting agency detected unusual betting and reported it to police.

A two-year investigation into the match involved the NSW Organised Crime Squad's Casino and Racing Unit, Victoria Police and the Tennis Integrity Unit.

Lindahl, who reached a career high ranking of 187 in 2010, was charged with various corrupt betting offences.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear at Burwood Local Court on March 12.

A third man has been issued with a future court attendance notice following an investigation into the alleged match-fixing.

Investigations are continuing.
