A P-plater motorbike rider has been charged with leading police on a high-speed chase through Sydney.

Officers say they tried to stop the man at Mascot on Saturday night after he was clocked doing 113km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Instead of stopping, the 23-year-old allegedly sped off, ducking and weaving through traffic, as he travelled down Southern Cross Drive.

The man was eventually caught near Link Road in Botany and charged with driving dangerously, exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and engaging in a police pursuit.

His licence was suspended and he's due to face Waverley Local Court on June 8.
