Two of the injured men were released from hospital on Saturday and were charged, police said.

A 23-year-old was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and going armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.

A 26-year-old man was charged with affray.

Both have been refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court later today.

On Saturday night the dead man's relatives gathered outside the hospital, and were visibly distraught after learning of his death.

Witnesses said the fight broke out after a woman sought help from neighbours about an altercation with a man, and two groups of men then converged on Howitt Place.
