Eddie Obeid expected at Sydney court to face misconduct charges

Crooked former Labor powerbroker Eddie Obeid is expected to return to a Sydney court on Thursday.
Obeid is charged with misconduct in public office over alleged inducements to former deputy Maritime NSW CEO Stephen Dunn, relating to the extension of leases for lucrative family-owned businesses in Sydney's Circular Quay in 2007.
When he was last before court in mid-December, Obeid successfully fought an attempt to have his passport confiscated as part of the conditions of his bail.
He said at the time that he had full confidence in the legal system and looked forward to clearing his name.
The prosecution has 30 witnesses, including Obeid's brother-in-law John Abood, former colleagues Joe Tripodi, Eric Roozendaal and Michael Costa and Mr Dunn.
Obeid's matter is listed in the Supreme Court.
