NSW warned about fake SMS speeding fines

NSW drivers who receive SMS messages urging them to click a link to pay a speeding fine are being warned it could be a scam.

The Office of State Revenue says while it does send messages warning of overdue fines, the fake messages - from the "State Recovery Debt Office" should be deleted straight away.

It says a number of the fake messages have been reported from the number +45609910233.

If in doubt, drivers can check if a fine is legitimate through the Office of State Revenue website or by calling 1300 138 118 or Service NSW on 13 77 88.
