NSW teens arrested after taxi carjacking

A man is on the run and two teenagers have been arrested after a taxi was carjacked mid-fare in Sydney's north-west.

The taxi was carrying two passengers in Oatlands on Monday morning, when it stopped to pick up a third person.

When the driver momentarily left the vehicle, one of the passengers jumped behind the wheel and sped off leaving the cabbie stranded, police said.

The taxi was then involved in a minor crash in Toongabbie where police arrested two teens aged 17 and 18.

The driver sped off and the abandoned taxi was found at Seven Hills a short time later.
