NSW skydiving fatality probe continues

The company involved in a fatal skydiving accident is defending its safety standards and procedures as an investigation continues into how two men fell to their deaths.

Dive instructor Adrian Lloyd, 60, and Singaporean national Mario Low Ke Wei, 29, died during a tandem lesson near Wilton, southwest of Sydney, on Saturday.

The jump has been described as "not especially challenging" and authorities don't believe any rules were broken.

The Australian Parachute Federation is assisting with an investigation.

Sydney Skydivers national operations manager Russell Brown said the accident was the first student orientation tandem fatality in the company's 40-year history.

"Our safety standards and operational procedures are to the highest standards for all skydives," he said.

"But particularly with tandem jumps, there is a very high level of safety from gear and equipment checks, staff licensing and training, as well as operational procedures."

Mr Lloyd had nearly 30 years of experience in the sport and had completed almost 10,000 jumps.
