NSW pair assaulted by armed strangers

Two armed strangers have allegedly assaulted a man and a woman who were visiting a friend south of Newcastle.

Police have been told the pair were at a house in Windale on Friday evening when two men entered and punched the 27-year-old woman in the face and stabbed the 27-year-old man.

Paramedics treated the injured woman at the scene while the man was taken to John Hunter Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the two men fleeing the Tahlee Avenue home on Friday evening to contact them.
