Three people die after ute hits tree in NSW

Three people have died after the ute they were travelling in left the road and struck a tree on the New South Wales north coast.

Authorities were called to Kangaroo Creek Road in Coutts Crossing, around 30km south of Grafton, about 9.30pm last night.

"The driver, a 43-year-old man, and two passengers, a 14-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, died at the scene," police said.

"Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash."

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
