NSW national parks camping fee to increase

Outdoor enthusiasts will have to pay more to visit some of NSW's popular national parks, with an increase in camping and parking fees commencing early next month.

Daily vehicle-entry fees for 45 of the state's national parks will increase by up to 33 per cent per day, depending on the location's level of park facilities.

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) acting deputy chief executive Mark Peacock says the increase reflects costs associated with maintaining camping grounds for visitors.

Kosciuszko National Park's daily vehicle-entry fee will increase by seven per cent during ski season, from $27 to $29, while the Royal National Park's fee will increase by nine per cent from $11 to $12.

"These are modest but important increases," Mr Peacock said on Tuesday.

"Fees are essential to assist in meeting costs associated with maintaining visitor facilities as well as important conservation objectives such as pest and weed control programs."
