NSW man killed after falling from boat near Newcastle

A man has been killed after falling from a boat south of Newcastle.

The 45-year-old from Edgeworth fell while navigating the southern entrance of Swan Bay about 9.45am yesterday, police say.

He was the only person aboard.

While in the water, the man was struck by his own vessel and seriously injured.

Witnesses in nearby boats took him to Pelican, about 5km south of Belmont, but he died on arrival.
