NSW man charged with extortion

A man has been charged with delivering threatening letters to NSW homes and businesses demanding money.
The 26-year-old allegedly tried to shake down the properties between December 5 and 13 before being arrested at Raymond Terrace in the NSW Hunter region on Wednesday.
He has been refused bail to face court charged with demanding property with intent to steal, possessing a prohibited weapon and handling explosives.
