NSW man charged over Anzac Day assault

A man accused of an Anzac Day bashing in NSW's Lake Macquarie region has been charged by police.
Emergency services found his alleged victim, a 46-year-old man, unconscious on a street in Warners Bay on Monday evening.
Witnesses told officers he was assaulted after leaving a nearby hotel.

The man was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remains with serious head injuries.
His alleged attacker, 36, is accused of recklessly causing grievous bodily harm and has been given conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on May 25.
