NSW man charged after being stabbed

A man who allegedly threatened two women with a knife and meat cleaver has ended up being treated for stab wounds and assault charges.

Police say the 52-year-old man allegedly threatened two women, aged 29 and 41, with a meat cleaver and knife at a home on Calero Street, Lithgow, west of Sydney on Saturday.

The man allegedly assaulted the 29-year-old woman before she took hold of the knife and meat cleaver and stabbed the man in the abdomen.

Emergency services were called and the older woman drove to Lithgow police station, where she was arrested.

The man was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Lithgow Hospital, before being taken to Westmead Hospital.

The 29-year-old woman was released that night pending further inquiries.

The man was released from hospital on Monday and was taken to Parramatta police station, where he was charged with assault for intending to commit an indictable offence while armed.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday.
