NSW man avoids jail over greyhound threats

A man who threatened to harm NSW Deputy Premier Troy Grant after it was announced that greyhound racing would be banned in the state has been given a seven-month suspended sentence and placed on a good behaviour bond.

Ben Campton pleaded guilty to one charge of using a carriage service to threaten serious harm and was sentenced at Blacktown Local Court on Monday, where a further charge of stalking or intimidating was withdrawn.

The 25-year-old was arrested in August after his Schofields home was searched and two other men, aged 22 and 31, who are believed to be members of the greyhound industry, were charged with similar offences.
