NSW man attacked by masked intruder

A man has been attacked by a baseball bat-wielding masked intruder in his home near Newcastle.

Two residents of the James Street home in Windale, Lake Macquarie, were in the kitchen when they were confronted by a masked man carrying a bat just after 9pm on Monday, police said.

One of the occupants, a 49-year-old man, had his arm broken by the intruder before the masked man fled empty-handed.
