NSW gran wins $8.8m lotto jackpot

A NSW grandmother who has "never ever had any money" answered a phone call today revealing she had won almost $9 million.

"I can't have," was the immediate response by the unnamed woman from the central NSW town of Parkes when she was told she had won $8,820,000 in the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw, The Daily Telegraph reports.

"You've got to be joking. I'm a multi-millionaire? I've never ever had any money in my life," she told the lotteries official who had contacted her.

Overwhelmed with emotion, the grandmother passed the phone to her son, who said his mum had gone red in the face and covered her eyes with her hands.

"She's bewildered," he said.

"You can't imagine what this means for mum — she'll be able to buy new furniture, do some renovations around her home and make her family happy."

The win is the largest Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot claimed since September last year.
