The man accused of Sydney's Family Court bombings is expected to make a bid for bail next week.

Leonard John Warwick, 68, is charged with more than 30 offences, including four counts of murder over a number of bombings between 1980 and 1985 and the shooting death of Family Court Justice David Opas.

Prosecutors told the Central Local Court in Sydney on Thursday that it could take up to three months to finalise briefs.

The court heard there is still a lot of historical detail as well as new information from new searches to be examined.

Expert reports also need to be checked over in circumstances where people involved early in the investigation have since died.

Warwick is expected to face the court via videolink next Thursday for a release application.

He remains in custody until then.
