No bail over 'deliberate' Sydney crash

A male driver who allegedly undid his female passenger's seatbelt before driving into a power pole in western Sydney will remain behind bars for at least another two months.

Toni Sese, 48, was driving in St Marys in late January with his 23-year-old passenger when he allegedly undid both their seatbelts and deliberately crashed into the power pole.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries to her left arm while Sese sustained cuts to his knee.

He was arrested at his St Marys home on Tuesday and charged with attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm.

Sese did not apply for bail at Penrith Local Court on Wednesday and it was formally refused by magistrate Brian Van Zuylen.

He's scheduled to next appear at the same court on April 3.
