Sex offender parole revoked after rape

A convicted Sydney pedophile accused of sexually assaulting a teenager just hours after he was released from jail has had his parole revoked.

The NSW State Parole Board held an emergency meeting on the morning after Arthur Alliband was charged over the attack at Best Road Reserve in Seven Hills.

Alliband, 26, is accused of assaulting the 16-year-old on the same day he was released on parole for a prior sex offence conviction.

He had been sentenced to 18 months in jail in December 2015, backdated to August 2014, for having sex with child aged between 10 and 14.

Alliband had been released from jail on the day of the alleged attack on court-based parole, she said.

"Where a sentence is less than three years, the court sets the date for automatic release on parole," the spokeswoman said.

Court-based parole was recently examined as part of the Law Reform Commission Review of Parole.

"The LRC recommended that court parole be replaced with statutory parole which allows the State Parole Authority to revoke parole or put further or different conditions on an offender before they are released," a NSW government spokeswoman told AAP.

"The NSW government is currently considering this and other recommendations of the report," she said in a statement.

Alliband, who did not appear in court on Wednesday, will next appear at Penrith Local Court on April 29 via video link.

He faces a charge of sexual intercourse without consent and assault with act of indecency.
