Thousands of extra bus services will be rolled out across NSW to meet increased passenger demand.

A $15.6 million boost in the upcoming state budget will provide extra buses and services on popular routes in the Sydney's west and in the city's northern beaches, NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance said in a statement on Wednesday.

"As well as delivering thousands of extra services we are also purchasing more than 30 new buses and over 400 replacement buses this year, with around 20 of these new buses to cater for the increased demand in school services across the state," Mr Constance said.

The bus boost is part of the state government's $1.5 billion investment in regional, metropolitan and school bus services, which Treasurer Dominic Perrottet says is a reflection of the government's "strong economic management".

The NSW budget will be handed down on Tuesday, June 19.
