A search is under way for a missing fisherman who was last seen on the NSW south coast.

Emergency services were called to Batemans Bay Marina about 8pm last night after reports a fisherman had failed to return from a fishing trip.

The 56-year-old man had left the marina about 6am in an 8-metre Arvor cruiser and was last heard from about 10am.
