Man wanted over NSW security guard assault

A computer-generated image of a man has been released by police investigating the attempted robbery and assault of a security guard near Newcastle in 2014.

The 45-year-old security guard was allegedly bashed with batons by three men who tried to steal his cash bag outside a bank on Alma Street in Lambton on December 19, 2014.

He fired a shot at the group during the struggle, before the trio fled the scene in a white Ford Laser.
