Man punches NSW cop in the face

A man has allegedly punched a police officer in the face on NSW's north coast.
The officer had gone to the back of his car to release a police dog during a patrol of Coffs Harbour CBD when the 36-year-old man took a swipe at him.
He fled the scene but was arrested a short time later and is currently in custody.

The officer was treated at hospital for facial injuries.
