Man injured in NSW light plane crash

A man has suffered head injuries in a light plane crash on the NSW north coast.

The man, aged in his 70s, was trapped after his aircraft crashed onto its roof near Johnsons Road, Sandy Beach, a NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said.

Paramedics were called about 2pm, and freed the patient.

He has been taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital in a stable condition. 

Sandy Beach is about 20km north of Coffs Harbour.
