Man survives four-storey plunge from Sydney CBD balcony

The man is believed to be aged in his 40s. 

A man has been seriously injured after falling from a balcony in Haymarket, in Sydney's CBD early on Tuesday morning.

Specialist rescue police had to be called in to extricate the man, who is believed to be in his 40s, before he was taken to St Vincent's Hospital for treatment to suspected leg and head injuries.

The man fell four levels from the apartment building onto a garden just before 3am.

Police say initial inquiries suggest the man's fall at the Quay St building was accidental.
