Man dies after being pulled unconscious from beach in Sydney's Royal National Park

A man has drowned while swimming at a beach in the Royal National Park just south of Sydney.
The man was pulled unconscious from the water at Watamolla Lagoon unconscious at about 6.45pm on Christmas Day.
Swimmers at the lagoon told police they pulled the man to shore after they witnessed him disappear under the water. A number of people performed CPR on the man while they waited for paramedics to arrive.
Authorities took over when they arrive, but efforts to revive the man failed, and he died at the scene.
Police are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
They have urged everyone to be vigilant around waterways, beaches and swimming pools during the festive season.
