Man dies after suffering electric shock while on the job

A man has died when he suffered an electric shock while at work in Sydney's west this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Billington Place in Emu Plains at 1.30pm today after receiving reports a man had been injured as he performed maintenance on a building.

Paramedics tried to save the man, believed to be aged in his 40s, but he died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police have set up a crime scene but the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

Billington Place will remain closed to the public for some time while inquiries continue at the scene.

SafeWork NSW inspectors are investigating the incident.   

"SafeWork NSW has been notified and is responding to an incident at a workplace at Emu Plains where a worker has experienced an electric shock," a spokesperson said.
