Man dies after being struck on Sydney road

A 55-year-old man has died in hospital a day after being hit by a car in Sydney's southwest.

The man sustained head and arm injuries when he was struck by a car being driven by a 65-year-old woman on Peel Street in Canley Heights just before 8am on Sunday.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital but died on Monday morning, police said.

The driver was also taken to hospital for mandatory testing and police have appealled for any witnesses to come forward.
